Visting Orkney’s schools

Zoe and Kevin have been busy this summer, visiting many of the county’s schools.

It’s been fantastic to meet the kids and speak to them about the work of the charity and dangers of illegal substances.

Kevin regularly gives a presentation which educates pupils on many of the dangers associated with the use of illegal substances.

We talk to pupils about what drugs are, the legal implications and powers the police have, and the potential effects on individuals, families and the community.Information about how drugs can enter the system, the categories of drug and their effects, and the dangers of mixing alcohol and drugs are also included.

Over the last few weeks alone, Kevin has given versions of the presentation to pupils in Kirkwall, Sanday, Stronsay, and Westray.
