Border Force assistance – 27 August

Kevin and Zoe were invited to assist UK Border Force on board Coastal Patrol Vessel “Nimrod” when they arrived in Orkney waters at the weekend. They spent Sunday at sea, patrolling among the north isles, and landed in Shapinsay and Westray. It was an excellent opportunity to work alongside Border Force officers and assist them with vessel searches. During the day, they met with a number of yachts in port and the crews appreciated both the reassurance of the visit and supported the joint working between the two organisations.

The patrol vessel’s Master, Jason Harris said, “My team members and Orkney Drugs Dog boarded and searched 3 yachts. Nothing was detected but verbal feedback to me from our ‘customers’ was extremely positive. It seems to be very helpful to be able to enhance the experience of our law-abiding customers and greatly increase the probability that drugs would be detected from those who are not. Many thanks to Orkney Drugs Dog for enabling today’s activity and please be assured that I will contact them again when we return to Orkney waters”
